Why n8n, not Zapier/Make

Three reasons:

  1. Self-hosted — installs on your VPS, no SaaS subscription, no third-party data exposure
  2. Unlimited executions — Zapier bills per trigger; at scale this becomes expensive
  3. Custom-code flexibility — embed any JavaScript or Python inside a node, plug any API. Make and Zapier traded this away for simplicity.

Trade-off is needing an engineer to set up and maintain. We cover that — deploy, configure for your process, hand over with docs.

How we calculate ROI

For each task we estimate:

  • Hours in current manual process (all participants)
  • Operations per month — how repetitive
  • Cost per hour of the team member (or lost revenue if it’s about leads/sales)

Minimum threshold for automation to make sense — 15 team hours/month (~$300 at $20/hour). Below that — payback drags, better defer.

Monitoring & support

Each workflow ships with:

  • Health-check endpoint — if a scheduled task fails to run, Telegram bot alerts on-call
  • Error logging — exceptions with context flow to a separate channel
